The Texas Tech Red Raiders are now ranked #7 after a disappointing loss to the Oklahoma Sooners Saturday in Norman. But what does the loss mean for Texas Tech's championship hopes and the Red Raider fans?
It was a heartbreaking loss for the Red Raiders this weekend but fans are still keeping their eyes on the prize - the Big 12 Championship. Fans on campus are still fighting for their Red Raiders and hopes of making it to the Big 12 Championship after a tough loss Saturday. "We still love the guys. We'll be rooting them on. Got to have team spirit. It's been an amazing season," said students on campus.
"It's disappointing but you can't do anything about it. It's over. Got to forget about it and move on," Jake Ratliff, TTU defensive end, said. The team is concentrating on Baylor this weekend but other will be cheering for another team too. "Well we're obviously rooting for OSU," said TTU Coach Mike Leech.
Some Red Raider fans will be wearing more than just red and black. They'll add a little bit of orange to their wardrobes. "We really need OSU to win. I'll be cheering for the Cowboys. As long as OU doesn't win we'll be good to go." That fan is right. In order for Tech to make it to the Big 12 Championship the Red Raiders must beat Baylor and OSU needs to beat OU.
The Big 12 Championship is still a possibility for the Raiders and if the stars align maybe the possibility of a National Championship. It's a long shot but the good news is we've got another weekend of football and anything could happen.
