Warning About Deep Frying Turkey

A warning if you're planning to fry your turkey on Thanksgiving. The Sheriff's office in Broward, Florida, made this video to demonstrate what could happen if you don't deep fry a turkey properly, especially if you use a propane-gas powered fryer.

Firefighters there did what a lot of people do, dump a cold turkey into hot oil. If the turkey is not fully thawed, the ice can react with the hot oil to cause a boil-over and a flame hazard. So, be sure to read the instructions carefully. Officials say keep a fire extinguisher close by, just in case.
