On Thanksgiving the South Plains Food Bank is already turning its attention to Christmas. The food bank has seen an increase in families who need help this year.
The U Can Share Food Drive kicks off next week, and they hope people will be generous and donate. "The economy's just hurting a lot of people, and they're coming to us and coming to our agencies. We're distributing probably somewhere close to 600 or 700 food boxes a week now, which is up pretty significantly from where we were about a year ago this time," said David Weaver, executive director of the food bank.
In addition to food, you can donate your time filling food boxes every Saturday in December. You can also give money. Every dollar donated provides about seven meals.
