If you smelled gas in Lubbock Friday morning, you might be relieved to hear it was not from a gas leak. Junior Aston, Vice President of Marketing with Energas, says all gas lines in the city are tight.
The Lubbock Fire Department says it is from the oil fields in counties surrounding Lubbock, most likely Hockley County. The fire department says when the temperature drops it forms a cap that traps the gases in the atmosphere. The wind then blows the odor into Lubbock County.
