Quick-Thinking Officer Puts Two People Behind Bars

Quick-thinking by an off-duty Lubbock Police sergeant puts two people behind bars.

Sergeant Phillip Johnson was on his way to work around 4:30 p.m. Sunday when he saw a red Infinity G35 similar to a car in a stolen vehicle report he had recently read. He stopped the car, but when he walked up to it - the driver took off.

Johnson jumped into his patrol car and chased the suspect for less than a minute when the two people inside the car jumped out and took off on foot near South Loop 289 and Avenue U.

The sergeant caught both 34-year-old Amador Garcia and 26-year-old Deana Zuazu.

They are both in the Lubbock County Jail being held on multiple charges including drug charges and evading arrest.
