POW's, MIA's, and their families were remembered at Estacado High School Saturday morning. A 21-gun salute, candle lighting, and special music was played to honor the Veterans. A City of Lubbock Proclamation was presented to members of the local ex-POW Chapter proclaiming Saturday as POW-MIA recognition day.

For just 37 cents, you can help control the pet population. These stamps are now available in all Lubbock Post Offices. It is part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness on spaying and neutering your pets. Each year, Lubbock Animal Services cares for thousands of unwanted and stray pets, but they say there is simply not enough homes for all the unwanted animals brought to their shelter. Petsmart will be selling stamp sheets for $9.99. Part of that money will go to Petsmart charities and help support local animal organizations.
