On Tuesday morning, oil prices dropped to a three year low, so many Lubbock area drivers are wondering why gas prices spiked overnight.
Tuesday afternoon, Lubbock prices averaged about $1.55 per gallon of regular unleaded, which is up from $1.48 the night before.
NewsChannel 11 contacted AAA Texas to find out the reasoning behind it. Spokesperson, Dan Ronan, seemed surprised to learn of Lubbock's increase while other major Texas cities continued to drop. He could not offer us any explanation, except to say that area stations might be testing the waters to see how much customers are willing to pay.
