Garbage collection will not become less competitive in Lubbock, Houston, and Fort Worth says the Texas Attorney General. In a statement released late Wednesday A.G. Greg Abbot said that his office and federal regulators reached an agreement with two companies.
Allied Waste Industries and Republic Services Inc. have agreed to sell off certain waste hauling routes or landfill services in the three cities. This satisfied the A.G. that Lubbock and the other cities would not be subjected to merger-related higher prices or reduced service.
