According to a new report from the United Health Foundation, the overall health of Americans has failed to improve in four years.
Experts analyzed health, environmental and economic data to come up with a state-by-state health ranking. They found that rising obesity levels and steady smoking rates have caused the nation to stand still and not improve its overall health score.
If you want to live in the healthiest state in America, you'll need to move to Vermont. That top rating is followed by Hawaii, New Hampshire, Minnesota, and Utah. Louisiana is the least healthy state and Texas comes in near the bottom, at #46.
Overall, the US ranks 27th in healthy life expectancy compared to other countries. Japan tops the list with an average healthy life expectancy of 75 years, while the US life expectancy is 69 years.
