NewsChannel 11 has learned that Texas Tech hockey is only days away from being locked out. The team had an emotional struggle with city council for the right to keep playing in the City Bank Coliseum. Tuesday morning city council members are likely to direct city staffers to enforce the lockout starting next Monday.
The TTU hockey team was supposed to pay rent on Monday, December 1st. Legally the city could have locked out Tech hockey on Monday evening. But at the request of Mayor Tom Martin, the team will be allowed a few extra days.
Tech hockey has to pay nearly $11,000 on Monday December 8th.
But Coach Paul Fioroni says that's misleading. He says, "We have the money, there's a check. It's on its way. The city has given you false information. It's not correct."
