NewsChannel 11 now has the official word that Texas Tech has been invited to play in the AT&T Cotton Bowl.  The word came from Cotton Bowl Officials just minutes after 6 p.m.  The 11-1 Red Raiders will play Ole Miss.  Athletic Director Gerald Myers said during the conference call that the last Cotton Bowl for Texas Tech "was a great experience for our student athletes and our staff."  He also says, "We're excited. Our players are excited.  Coach Leach ... is excited to come back to Dallas."

Assistant Coach Ruffin McNeil said "Everything [about the bowl] from A to Z is first class."  McNeil says Ole Miss Coach Houston Nutt wins games wherever he goes.  He says Nutt will coach Ole Miss to be a great opponent in the game.  And Nutt also said he was excited for his team to play against Quarterback Graham Harrel and Wide Receiver Michael Crabtree.

Tech played in the third Cotton Bowl in 1939 and this is 4th appearance in this particular bowl.

The Cotton Bowl will be January 2nd at 1 p.m. central time in Dallas (in the Cotton Bowl Stadium).  It will be broadcasted on the Fox Television network and Westwood One radio network.  The stadium holds a little more than 88,000 people.  Tickets are $100.  A written statement indicates tickets were still available.

According to the Cotton Bowl website: "Ticket information for either the 2008 or 2009 Classic may be obtained by going online to www.attcottonbowl.com, or by calling 214-638-BOWL or toll-free at 888-792-BOWL. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted."
