A murder investigation that began in Lubbock more than a decade ago is expected to go to trail this week.

Albert Martinez, Jr. is in the Lubbock County Jail charged with murder. He's accused of killing Eva Garcia in October of 1996.

Her naked body was found in a flower bed outside Central Baptist Church at 1809 Avenue M just before Sunday services.

The District Attorney's office says they linked Martinez to DNA found at the crime scene. They say Martinez admitted responsibility for the murder, but did not give details about Garcia's death when questioned.

Garcia died of asphyxiation.
