Tech Hockey Locked Out of Coliseum


Last Wednesday evening NewsChannel 11 broke the story that Texas Tech hockey might get locked out of the City Bank Coliseum for not paying rent.

The $11,000 in rent money which was due Monday, December 1st and the city has yet to receive it. In a statement to NewsChannel 11 last week, Coach Paul Fioroni said the check was "on its way". At the request of Mayor Tom Martin, city officials gave the hockey team until Monday, December 8th. 

Just before 5 p.m. Monday, the City of Lubbock released the following official statement:

Tech Hockey Club Update
The Tech Hockey Club has not made their scheduled December 1, 2008, payment of $10,890.  In compliance with the contract, Tech Hockey Club's right to access the Coliseum is now terminated.

NewsChannel 11 has learned that Texas Tech hockey is only days away from being locked out. But the coach says info from the city is incorrect.
