People might not be giving as much this year in lubbock, but they are spending money. The proof comes from the Texas Comptroller's Office.
Comparing this October to the same period last year, sales tax receipts are up from $3.5 million to $3.9 million. That's just for the city of Lubbock. It does not include all of Lubbock County.
In addition, if you compare January through October of this year and the same period last year, sales taxes are up more than 6 percent.
