Sunday, several children under the care of Child Protective Services received Christmas gifts, thanks to the "Christmas is for Kids" toy drive. CPS protects abused and neglected children. The presents were given to the kids at the group's annual Christmas party. Organizers estimate more than 500 families attended. The toy drive officially ended on Friday, but CPS could still use more help in providing Christmas presents for area children.
"We're going to go ahead and keep the barrels up for the next week because we're going to continue to have families that need Christmas presents. Thank you so much to everybody in the communities of Lubbock and the surrounding areas for making this Christmas is for Kids party the best it could be," said Shawn Vandegriff of CPS.
You can still find the "Christmas is for Kids" barrels at local McDonald's.
