Monday was the busiest day of the year for people sending mail in Lubbock, and Wednesday is the busiest day of the year for people in Lubbock to receive mail.
It is estimated that more than a million pieces of mail were delivered just in the Hub City. So, you can imagine what it must have been like on a nationwide scale.
Tika McDonald with the Lubbock USPS says, "It's the busiest delivery day for the post office of the year because I have more than double the amount of parcels that I usually have throughout the year."
Why is that? McDonald says, "because it's the holidays, Christmas, people are mailing their Christmas packages trying to get them to their loved ones."
If you have packages to mail for Christmas, you can use priority mail right up until December 19th to get it there on time.
