Prairie Dog Debate

Both sides in the debate over whether to exterminate prairie dogs are using the same research to support their positions.

Texas Tech Professor Ken Rainwater co-authored the article. He says neither side is misusing the text, but the study really does not have much bearing on the argument either way. "There was really no study specifically of what prairie dog burrows do or don't do in the process, no attempt to measure anything associated with them," said Ken Rainwater, Ph.D.

The article was published in a 1997 edition of Ground Water magazine.
