The City of Lubbock has restored water to businesses around southwest Loop 289, but the clean up still remains. Hotels in the area were back in business Friday, but city water officials say the restaurants were hit the hardest.
"(We) lost a lot of product, we lost of a lot sales, right now we can't put a price tag on it," said Brandon Seale, Assistant Manager of Joe's Crab Shack. "We're trying to figure that out."
The Health Department says that because the water utilities department is flushing and sanitizing the water, there is no need for a boil notice.
The cleanup and street repairs will still take time, but the good news is the traffic signals are back up and running. The access road is still down to one lane, so the new overpass will remain open to help move traffic along.
All money spent by the city to clean up this mess will be billed to TxDOT's general contractor's bonding company for reimbursement.
