The author of The Centennial History of Lubbock signed copies of his work at the Centennial Store at Kingsgate Shopping Center Monday night. Paul Carlson says the book celebrates the centennial of Lubbock's incorporation in 1909, but the story goes back much further than that.
While Carlson wrote the text, he says others help him collect photos and other information. He's also proud that the story looks into the social life and cultural events of the people in Lubbock. "I think my favorite part is the last chapter, the story from 1970 to the present, because that story hasn't been done yet. There are several histories of Lubbock, some really good ones, but none of them take the story up to the present," Carlson said.
The Centennial History of Lubbock is available at the Centennial Store, next to Banana Republic at Kingsgate Shopping Center. It is also available online. (Click Here) to learn more.
