It's not just holiday travelers feeling the rush, but also last minute shoppers! Two days before Christmas shoppers scramble to get everything on their list.
"I wait till the last minute," said one holiday shopper. And she is not alone. No one is without a bag as shoppers scurry to get all their last minute Christmas shopping done.
"Last minute shopping is in full force here at South Plains Mall," said Beth Bridges with the South Plains Mall.
"I just kind of waited till the last minute because I've had to work and now me and my daughter are trying to get everything done for everybody so we are rushing around like crazy trying to get it all done, but we will," said one shopper.
In today's economy, the stores are still busy, but some shoppers say they aren't spending as much. "We're only going to get gifts for the immediate family and then do like the Chinese Christmas gifts. We are exchanging with my family, not everybody is getting something so we've just had to do that and do the best we can because of the economy and prices are like they are."
According to Consumer Reports, 70% of Americans are cutting back on their Christmas spending this year. "People are cutting back everywhere, here and around the nation, and I think people are just taking a step back and are being more conscious on what they are spending their money on. so the good news is retailers recognize that value is key this weekend," said Bridges.
And you can't go far without seeing a good deal, they're everywhere.
But no matter how much you spend this holiday, shoppers say being with family is what it is all about.
"That's why we are just doing a game and exchanging so we can be together rather than worrying about what we are going to spend," said a shopper.
