No Fireworks Ban in Lubbock County - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

No Fireworks Ban in Lubbock County

A favorable winter has paved the way for New Years' celebrations. From now through New Years' Eve, Lubbock area residents are shopping the fireworks stands on the edge of town and preparing to welcome in 2009.

County Commissioners say Lubbock did not meet the criteria to warrant a fireworks ban, but they insist participants be extra careful when lighting those fuses. "We don't want to take fun away from folks that sort of thing, you know. If you're going to we ask that you be extremely responsible in what you do. But if you can find some other activity than shooting off fireworks we just think that cuts down on the fire danger," said Patti Jones, Lubbock County Commissioner.

While there is no ban in Lubbock county, ALL fireworks are prohibited inside city limits.
