This is the 100th anniversary of the School Nurse, so all this week, we're handing our NewsChannel 11 microphone over to these professionals to let them speak out about important health issues. Virginia Baskerville is our guest for Thursday night.
"I'm Virginia Naskerville, the School Nurse at Coronado High School. We are all aware of the athletes that are practicing out in the hot sun and how much they need to have their fluids so they do not dehydrate. The rule is that they drink one to two glasses of water before they practice and four ounces of fluid every 15 minutes during practice and two to four glasses of fluids when they are through practicing," says Virginia Baskerville, School Nurse.
Virginia says that after a lot of investigation, she also found a dehydration solution for all those bandmembers across town. She found belt clips that fit a bottle of water at Mountain Hideaway on 50th St. She also says she'd like to see every band member wearing one when they practice in the hot sun.
