A Texas teenager died early Saturday morning after shooting herself in the head in a school parking lot, Friday. San Antonio police say the thirteen-year old eighth grader called her friends over to an area in the parking lot of Page Middle School. She talked to them and began giving away personal items such as a ring and a jacket. The friends became scared and fled. They heard a gunshot as they ran away. The girl was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital, where she died Saturday at 4 am.

They're set to meet in a few days and already the fists are flying. Republican Governor Rick Perry and Democratic opponent Tony Sanchez will begin their first of two debates next Wednesday in Houston. But there's already been some talk about the issue of height. Perry is criticizing the shorter Sanchez for working to prevent side-by-side shots of the two at upcoming debates.

And, the number of certified teachers in Texas is on the rise. The State Board for Educator Certification says more teachers graduated from Texas colleges and universities, this year, than any other in the past decade. In 2002, more than 16-thousand six hundred teachers graduated, compared to more than 14-thousand in 2001 and just under 12-thousand in 2000.
