Many kids received cell phones for Christmas and the increasing number of children using cell phones in Texas is raising red flags for state officials.
Tuesday, State Attorney General, Greg Abbott encouraged parents to buy and use tools that can help protect children from harmful content including preventing sexual predators from easily accessing your child's phone. The Attorney General says that it is just as big a concern with cell phones as it is when kids have access to a computer.
"It is a fact that child predators communicate with teens on devices like this, (a cell phone) trying to set them up so that they can sexually assault those teens," says Abbott.
Abbott wants the state of Texas to require sex offenders to register all electronic identification information that they have including e-mail addresses and mobile phone numbers.
