New Study Finds Way to Cut Asthma Risk in Kids

Protecting your children against asthma and allergies can start even before they are born simply by eating a certain fruit.

In a study of over 1200-children, Dutch researchers found expectant mothers who ate more than four apples a week had children who were 53% less likely to be diagnosed with asthma than kids whose mothers did not eat any apples.

Although they are not sure why, scientists think the flavonoids and other antioxidants in apples may provide this protection. This study was published Thorax - the International Journal of Respiratory Medicine.
