You may have noticed recent announcements on NewsChannel 11 asking you to support the local economy by buying your cars from a local dealership. I've had an overwhelming response from not just the dealerships, but viewers and local business leaders in general - all thanking me and KCBD for this public service.
The truth is this television station does have a stake in the success of our local car dealers. But those numbers show how it really affects us all in a big way and, collectively, we do have the power to keep our local economy strong.
Now you must make the best decisions for you and your family during good times and bad. But when deciding, consider this, there's not much you and I can do about Mid-East oil prices, China's economy, Fannie, Freddie or Washington's influence over them all, but we do have power - power to analyze our own spending habits and shop locally owned businesses first.
It's something you won't stop hearing on this television station. It's our responsibility to promote this message because it's just too important.
