Senator Robert Duncan could be the Governor of Texas some time in the next 140 days, if only for a day.
Duncan will be nominated as the President Pro Tempore of the Texas Senate next week. Customarily, the Governor and the Lieutenant Governor leave the state for one day during the legislative session, which makes the President Pro Tem or "Governor for a Day."
There are no other nominees, so chances are that Duncan will be the President Pro Tem.
