Despite the cold weather, people still showed up to help at the Legacy Play Village in Southwest Lubbock on Monday, but organizers say they still need all the help they can get. If you would like to volunteer, organizers say they need the most help at night. You can sign up at American State Bank or just stop by and register.

Three agencies that work to improve Lubbock got their report cards Monday. Market Lubbock Inc, the Lubbock Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Lubbock Sports Authority held a news conference Monday morning. All of them announced they had surpassed their goals for fiscal year 2002. Market Lubbock created more than 1,000 jobs, and the visitor’s bureau announced 82,000 hotel/motel rooms were booked.

Texas Tech Deans received a special honor on Monday afternoon. President David Schmidly and Provost William Marcy honored 13 deans from various colleges. They all were recognized for outstanding work in their individual fields.
