Time is Running Out for Play Village

Construction at the Legacy Play Village continues on what is now day five, but organizers say they still need your help especially during the evening. Monday's cold weather slowed down support, but buses of school kids from O.L. Slaton and Lubbock Christian helped save the day.

Organizers say volunteers seem to taper off during the week, when people are at work, and that's why any help is good. "We challenge everyone to come out here, bring kids and help contribute to a good cause that will benefit the whole community,” says Rusty Riley of Lubbock Christian School.

Aside from free food, organizers provide all their volunteers with free daycare. But it seems not everyone is taking advantage of it. The First Church of the Nazarene on 61st and Chicago is providing daycare. They are accepting Potty-trained kids up to the age of five are welcome.
Childcare starts at 7:30 and ends at 9 p.m.

Organizers also say they need your help with supplies. Right now, they're running low on goggles and concrete. They need 80 pound bags of concrete.
