This could be a huge year for expanding Texas Tech University. The state legislature meets next week and Senator Robert Duncan of Lubbock says TTU has been closer and closer to being named as a National Research Institution. "The state of Texas now is poised to recognize additional universities other than University of Texas and Texas A&M as National Research Institutions," Duncan said.
Duncan says Texas Tech is first in line to get that recognition and the funding that comes with it. Duncan wants to create something similar to the PUF or Permanent University Fund for Texas Tech and maybe some other universities.
