Hockley County Grass Fire Threatened Homes

Volunteer firefighters battled a brush fire in Hockley County for more than a hour Sunday afternoon. It was put out before any neary-by trailers caught fire.

It happened just east of Smyer, near Highway 114. Firefighters from West Carlisle and Smyer also responded.

Fire officials are unsure of what started the fire.
