City of Lubbock Appoints New Deputy Fire Chief

Lewis Treadwell has been appointed as the new Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Lubbock. 

Treadwell, a 31-year veteran of the Lubbock Fire Department, will serve as Deputy Chief of Emergency Services, with his primary duty being the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Lubbock.  Treadwell will begin his new duties on January 17, 2009.

As Emergency Management Coordinator for Lubbock, Treadwell will be responsible for implementing and coordinating emergency plans and operations between the City and a variety of agencies and organizations.

Fire Chief Rhea Cooper said, "Deputy Chief Treadwell is a great asset to City and the whole region."

Currently serving as Battalion Chief for the Lubbock Fire Department, Chief Treadwell has a degree in Fire Technology from South Plains College and has earned the Executive Fire Officer designation from the National Fire Academy.  His experience includes fire suppression, coordinating fire academies, training fire personnel throughout the South Plains, and teaching emergency management courses in Lubbock.
