The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will host a public meeting to allow affected property owners and the general public to comment and provide input on proposed improvements to West Loop 289.
The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Elks Lodge located at 3409 Milwaukee Avenue in Lubbock.
TxDOT representatives will present plans for a proposed project to upgrade two miles of West Loop 289, between 4th (FM 2255) and 34th Streets, from an existing four-lane grassy medium divided facility to a six-lane freeway facility.
Additional planned improvements include the reversal in configuration of the entrance and exit ramps on southbound West Loop 289, between 19th Street (State Highway 114) and 34th Street. The proposed plans call for a small amount of right of way to be acquired at the Frankford Avenue and Loop 289 frontage road intersection.
All area property owners, stakeholders in the future of the city of Lubbock and interested citizens are invited to attend the meeting.
