More bad economic news that hits close to home. This time it's PYCO Industries.

Lubbock based PYCO gave notice to officials in Greenwood, Mississippi that it will shut down operations in that city. The layoffs will start March 8th according to WARN, or Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, documents.

Back here in Lubbock, PYCO employs 167 people according to the city's most recent major employer report. There are no WARN documents for the Lubbock plant so that's good news for our local workers.

PYCO is quoted as saying it hopes to find a way to keep the Mississippi plant open but there are no promises.
