Lubbock Woman Arrested in Connection with Phony Burglary

A Lubbock woman, whose home was reportedly burglarized while undergoing treatment for cancer, is behind bars Wednesday night.

Police say Rachel Sue Benites, 48, filed the police report on January 5, 2009. However, upon further investigation, officers discovered Benites actually sold the items she had reported stolen.  She then accepted donations from the public, including cash and appliances.

If you made a donation to Rachel Sue Benites, Lubbock Police are ready to answer your questions. Give them a call at (806) 775-2778.
