Family of Missing Woman Thanks Authorities

Now to a follow up to Wednesday night's breaking news, an elderly woman is safe at home thanks to the quick response from Lubbock and Dickens County authorities.

Nelda Marie Dippel, 77, disappeared around 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, failing to return from a trip to the grocery store. She was found safe Wednesday night in Dickens County, where authorities notified her family and they say they couldn't be more grateful.

"The LPD were incredible. I can't thank the Dickens County Sheriff's Department enough. They were so warm and hospitable to everybody. The entire thing was amazing. It worked like clockwork," said Cliff Dippel, Nelda's son.

Dippel was found in Dickens County around midnight after Lubbock police alerted area authorities about the 77-year-old missing woman.

"Somehow she got things mixed up in her mind and there's no telling exactly what she was thinking because she still doesn't understand now. She, at this point, doesn't even know that anything happened," said Vanessa Braziel, Nelda's granddaughter.

Family members say she hasn't been officially diagnosed with an impaired mental condition, that's why a Silver Alert was not issued.
