They'd been on the lookout with no luck, but now Lubbock authorities say a tip from a NewsChannel 11 viewer led them to a most wanted suspect.
Virginia Amaya, 23, is now on the captured wall. She has four warrants for her arrest, charged with burglary, credit card abuse, and two counts of forgery.
We put Amaya on the wanted wall last month. That's after authorities say someone dropped a credit card outside of the Olive Garden in November. They say before the owner could have it cancelled Amaya went on a $1,200 shopping spree for gas, food, and merchandise. She's also accused of stealing another woman's purse from a local church, and using her credit card.
The sheriff's department tells us they received a tip that Amaya was at a local shelter. Authorities found her and took her into custody around 11 a.m. Thursday. "She had been on the run, on the loose for a while. They had some information earlier about her whereabouts that didn't pan out, and then very recently we did receive this tip pursuant to the broadcast," Lubbock County Sheriff's Major Don Carter said.
Amaya is the 25th suspect to move to NewsChannel 11's Captured Wall. That's 25 suspected criminals you've helped bring to justice in less than a year with NewsChannel 11's Most Wanted. As this latest capture shows, one call can make a difference.
