Instead of R-2-D-2 in Star Wars, this robot goes by the name of 21. The new robot prototype is Japan's solution to elderly care in a rapidly aging population.
The robot, 21, is programmed to be helpful to seniors developed by Waseda University in Tokyo. The robot can help people in need of assistance get up from bed by reaching out both hands. It can also pick up a straw and put it in a plastic cup before serving the drink to its human master. The robot stands nearly five feet tall and weighs 244 pounds.
