Gov. Rick Perry has appointed seven members to the State Independent Living Council. The council leads, promotes and advances an independent living philosophy, and advocates for the rights of individuals with disabilities. Among them is a Lubbock resident.
Randell Resneder is an adjunct faculty at the University of North Texas. He is founder and executive director of Handicapped Awareness Programs in Lubbock. He is also a past member of the Texas Council for Exceptional Children Nominating Committee. Resneder received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas and a master's degree in instructional technology from Texas Tech University. He replaces Sue Ford of Bedford for a term to expire Oct. 24, 2009.
