Lubbock Man On Trial For Animal Cruelty - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

A Lubbock man accused of beating a 10-month-old colt to death is on trial in New Mexico. The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that 38-year-old Greg Collier is charged with a fourth-degree felony count of extreme animal cruelty.

According to the paper this is Collier's second trial. The first ended with a mistrial last year. The colt's owner testified that Collier beat the 700-pound animal repeatedly with the handle of a whip. Collier denies the claim. If convicted, he faces up to 18-months in prison.
