As fire crews across the state continue to battle a series of wildfires, Lubbock County Commissioners meet to consider a burn ban for Lubbock County.
Fire crews appear to have gained the upper hand against fires in Central and West Texas. Flames ripped through more than 6,000 acres so far. The wildfires are blamed for one death near Austin, and have destroyed at least six homes. The fire also forces people in parts of Jones County near Anson to evacuate.
Winter frost that killed grass and the lack of rain has the landscape primed for more fires. Due to these conditions, Lubbock County Commissioners could approve a burn ban at their 10 a.m. meeting Monday morning.
