According to a poll, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, more than two-thirds of Texans want a smoke-free state. The poll found that Texans understand that exposure to secondhand smoke is a serious health hazard and 72% of them believe that customers have the right to breathe clean air in restaurants and bars.
Now, a group called "Smoke-Free Texas" is calling for a law that would provide statewide protection from secondhand smoke exposure in all indoor and public work places including restaurants and bars.
There are already 24 states that have similar smoke-free laws.
