A wrong-way loop driver faces charges after an early morning traffic accident. At around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning the man was driving a Ford truck on South Loop 289 in the westbound lanes, but he was going east. He hit a Ford Ranger traveling in the right direction. The truck then crossed the median and crashed into a cinder-block fence. The driver of the Ranger was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the truck was arrested.
Just an hour later, Lubbock police arrested another driver. He lost control of his truck while leaving the fly-over of South Loop 289. The truck veered into the median and rolled at least once. Police say the man was wearing a seat belt which may have saved his life. But he was arrested for driving with an expired license and failing to show proof of insurance.
