Criminal Charges Considered Against Peanut Corporation of America

The Food and Drug Administration is teaming up with the Justice Department to look into criminal violations at the Peanut Corporation of America.  The Georgia plant is accused of distributing products to other food companies while knowing some were contaminated with salmonella. So far, the CDC has confirmed 529-infections in 43-states, with eight deaths and more than 100 hospitalizations all linked to the outbreak.

Two companies are saying that their foods are safe:  Lance's Peanut Butter Crackers and Hershey's Reese's products.

If you have any peanut products that you suspect may be a part of the recall, check the recall list at www.fda.gov.
