Road Hazard Damages Cars on Brownfield Highway

An equipment malfunction may be to blame for a failed seal coating project on the Brownfield Highway. It started Wednesday night when the workers laid down a fresh layer of gravel and asphalt. But Public Information Officer for TX-DOT, Penny Mason, says the machinery malfunctioned and didn't lay the asphalt right.

As a result, the loose gravel damaged several people's vehicles on Thursday morning. Mason says the contractor, Dunnick Brothers Construction, immediately began removing the seal coat. She says the project will probably start again in the next few days.

Dunnick Brothers' Safety Director, Kyle Freeman, is now in Lubbock assessing the situation. If your vehicle suffered damages due to the construction, you can contact him at (817) 266-7167.
