Good news for the Lubbock economy. Lubbock's unemployment rate was down to 2.8% in September, compared to 3.2% in August. That's more than 3% below the state average of 6.1%.

In Texas, only Bryan-College Station has a lower rate at 1.8%. McAllen, once again, has the highest unemployment rate at 12.6%.
