LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Owner Kenny Ellis of Kenny's Korral, a local exotic animal farm and party center for children, is reporting that on the evening of February 1st at 6 p.m. he heard what was an apparent discharge of a small caliber firearm coming from the County Road that borders his property. Kenny's Korral is located at the corner of Slide Road and County Road 7500.
Upon going to investigate the shot, Mr. Ellis discovered that one of his exotic animals, a four year old doe (female) Fallow deer had been shot in the back (spinal column) and sustained critical injuries that ultimately required the animal to be put down.
Unfortunately other than hearing the shot, there were no witnesses to the crime to be able to give a description of the person(s) responsible or of a vehicle that might have been used in committing the crime. Because of how quickly the person(s) left the scene, Mr. Ellis is assuming at this time that someone must have discharged the firearm from a vehicle off of County Road 7500 that borders his property and then drove away before anyone was able to see them.
The Lubbock County Sheriff's Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Wardens are investigating. Due to the fact that there were no witnesses at the time, Mr. Ellis is asking for the help of the public. If anyone has any knowledge of this crime Mr. Ellis is asking that they please contact the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department.
