Firefighters Uncover Possible Meth Lab

Thursday night NewsChannel 11 first told you about the fire at the Auto Detail Depot at 16th and Avenue J. Fire crews responded to the scene just before 8:30 p.m., and the fire was put out and just minutes. It was at about that time, that investigators discovered the components of meth lab.

"After they got the fire put out, one of the fireman was smelling some ammonia smells. They discovered some propane tanks under the rubble. One of them was leaking, leaking what appeared to be ammonia, which isn't consistent with a propane tank, said Captain Wayne Bullock, Special Operations of Lubbock Police Department.

The Lubbock Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze, and has ruled out any electrical or natural malfunction. The owner of the building has been contacted however, the operator of Auto Detail Depot, so far can not be found.
