For the seventh time in almost as many years, all four Lubbock ISD high schools earned berths to the State Academic Decathlon meet.
Lubbock High School won the Region 1 Academic Decathlon regional tournament in the large-school category on Saturday guaranteeing the Westerners a trip to the state meet.
Coronado High School and Monterey High School came in second- and third-place respectively, but generated scores high enough to win at-large berths to the state tourney.
Lubbock High student Johanna Neuber was the highest scoring student in Region 1.
Estacado came in second place at the Region 7 meet held in Katy, Texas last weekend, but also generated scores high enough to go to state as an at-large team. Forty teams compete in the state tournament in the large-school category, twenty-five in the medium-school category and fifteen in the small-school category.
Lubbock ISD remains the only school district in Texas to send all of its four high school Academic Decathlon teams to state seven times..
