Costs of Cancer Aftercare a Burden

For some cancer survivors, the cost of care after beating the disease can be a great challenge.  A new study finds nearly one million survivors are not getting the medical attention they need because it is just too expensive.

Researchers at the National Cancer Institute studied nearly 6500 adult cancer cases and found that nearly 10% of them skipped their follow up care, like not buying prescription medications, because they could not afford it.

The outlook was even worse among African American patients with 87% of them likely to forego follow-up treatment.
